A blocked page with thirty students watching is not a teaching moment. It is a delay. If the page loads on the teacher’s machine and not on a student laptop, the student network is the difference. Have that difference in writing before you promise the lesson. A promise you cannot keep becomes a free period with a resentful start.

USB-C headset that the lab will actually allow

Some labs allow a wired USB-C headset and forbid Bluetooth. Bring the allowed one. A headset you prefer and the lab rejects is a headset you do not have. Test it on the lab machine, not only on your laptop at home. Lab machines mute new devices until a permission dialog is accepted, and the dialog may be easy to miss. Accept it, hear the cue, then start. The permission dialog is part of the setup, like plugging in the cable.

Guest login that blocks the page the student login allows

A guest account and a student account can see different filters. If you tested on guest and the class uses student logins, you did not test the class. Load the page on the account the students will use. If that account blocks it, the lesson plan changes to the yard version or to a discussion of the rules without the screen. Do not spend the period clicking refresh on a filter. Refresh is not a whitelist.

Acceptable-use line read before the first Start

Read the one-line rule you need: the game is for the lesson, attempts stop when the bell rings, no downloads. Students can enjoy the doll inside that line. The line should be said before Start, when everyone is listening, not after someone is mid-run and the bell is competing with the cue. A bell during red is a perfect accidental catch. Plan to stop between attempts when the bell is close. Do not start a run you cannot finish before the room has to move.

Student-account screenshot saved the day before

Save a screenshot of the game actually running on the student account, with the date visible in the corner if the system shows one. A teacher’s laptop loading the page is not that screenshot. Bring the image even if you also bring the working machine. If the network changes overnight, you have proof it worked yesterday, which is useful with the filter admin and useless as a substitute for a plan B. The plan B is still the unplugged lesson. The screenshot is how you ask for the filter back without a vague claim.

Bell rule rehearsed without the doll on screen

Say the bell rule once with the projector off: attempts stop between rounds when the bell is close, no one starts a run in the last minute. Then turn the projector on. Rehearsing with the doll visible means nobody listens. The doll is more interesting than your sentence. Off, then sentence, then on. If you skip the off step, you will be explaining the bell while a student is already holding a key. That student will not hear you, and the catch will feel like your fault. It will be a timing fault. Prevent it with the order.

Plan B printed, not merely mentioned

The unplugged lesson, whatever you chose, should be a printed half page in your bag. A mentioned plan B is a sentence you cannot find when the filter fails. The half page can be the freeze rules and a one-minute drill. You may not need it. You need it in the bag anyway. Students can tell the difference between a teacher who prepared a second lesson and a teacher who is refreshing a blocked page. Be the first one, even if the page loads and the half page stays in the bag.

[5

post-52","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-troubleshooting-tips
["GET
